Australian SUP (Stand up Paddle board) Titles – October 11 to 15
If you’d rather a quieter experience showcasing a booming regional talent, maybe the Australian SUP Titles sound appealing?
Hosted by Surfing Queensland at Currumbin Alley from October 11 to 15, the event celebrates stand up paddleboarding and offers a chance for the nation’s best to show off their waterborne skills.
Stand up paddleboarding originated in Hawaii as an offshoot of traditional surfing and has grown exponentially in recent years. It involves much of the traditional skills of surfing, but enables surfers to paddle farther into the ocean than is typical, or to paddle standing up as a sport unto itself.
Divisions at the titles will include paddleboard surfing, technical and marathon, as well as the newly introduced SUP Community Challenge – a short course and marathon event for the public.
Combining exciting spectating, the opportunity to get involved and time spent on the Gold Coast’s pristine beaches, it’s an excellent chance to experience the region’s relaxed beachside lifestyle at its best.
