Commonwealth Games Approaches
As the Gold Coast revs up for the Commonwealth Games in 2018, there’s never been a better time to holiday on our sunny shores. Businesses and councils are busy preparing for the momentous event, bringing a hive of activity to Australia’s most popular tourist destination.
Restaurants and cafes are pumping out some of their best produce in years, theme parks and leisure venues are offering stellar service and specials and the market for tourists has never been better.
Venues for the games include Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre, Broadbeach Bowls Club , Coomera Indoor Sport Centre, Gold Coats Convention and Exhibition Centre, Gold Coast Hockey Centre and more. Many venues will be introducing exciting new changes to best serve customers, clients and the general public in the lead up the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Plus, you’ve got some world class accomodation on offer in our stunning region – one such venue is The Grand Apartments in Broadbeach, conveniently located in the midst of all the action, close to Surfers Paradise and short journey from the attractions of the northern and southern Gold Coast.
In the coming months there’s lots to do during a stay, including impressive sporting fixtures, free music festivals, our annual (and highly anticipated!) boat show and expo and much more.
Coming up soon is the Gold Coast Film Festival (March 31 to April 10), Cooly Classic Ocean Swim (April 3), the Autumn Show and Trade Fair (April 8 to 9), Gold Coast Bulletin Fun Run (April 17) and the popular Chinese Street Markets (returning to Southport on March 5).
Meanwhile, Blues on Broadbeach will be held from May 19 to 22, while the Sanctuary Cove Boat Expo and International Boat show will coincide with the music festival, also set for May 19 to 22.
If natural attractions, such as pristine blue surfing beaches and untouched national parks, are more your thing, we’ve got you covered in that respect as well.
From the beautiful beaches found directly across the road from The Grand, to the Treetop Challenge at Mount Tamborine, horse riding in the Gold Coast Hinterland and taking a stroll through lovely Burleigh Head National Park, we’re a diverse region with an excellent range of indoor and outdoor adventure.
Plus, no matter the time of year, the Gold Coast provides the perfect spot to enjoy a variety of water sport activities, including swimming, surfing, water skiing, wakeboarding, stand-up paddle boarding and lots more. Whether you’re a novice or a skilled sportsperson looking for the best of the best conditions, we reckon the Gold Coast will hit the spot.
