As the weather warms up on the gorgeous Gold Coast, Summer presents the perfect opportunity to escape the daily grind for a spot of sunshine.
Alongside the region’s usual array of top-notch leisure and dining venues, theme parks and outdoor adventures, the start of this year brings the Gold Coast Food & Wine Expo and Burleigh Pro surf competition to our shores.
The Grand Apartments in Labrador offer a convenient location, sought after facilities and world-class service, right in the heart of all the action.
Gold Coast Food & Wine Expo – January 29-31
If you’re into fine food and a sneaky tipple, the Gold Coast Food & Wine Expo will be right up your alley.
It features over 150 gourmet exhibitors, including free tastings and samples, and wine, homeware and kitchenware stalls. Expect to find a variety of cuisine from cultures across the globe, including homegrown Australian fare alongside Asian, European and American morsels.

The nationally acclaimed event will be held at the Gold Coast Convention Centre from Friday, January 22 to Sunday, January 4. The centre is located at Broadbeach, just a short drive from The Grand Apartments.

Burleigh Pro February 4-7
While you’re on the Gold Coast, why not check out the Burleigh Pro 2016, which will be held at iconic Burleigh Head from February 4 to 7.
The bustling surf mecca boasts some of the best waves on the coast (no small feat!), which will provide the perfect setting for the World Surf League men and women sanctioned competition.
The event will provide the perfect warm up for some of the best waterborne competitors in the world ahead of their Quiksilver and Roxy Pro appearances later in the year, with $15,000 and qualifying points up for grabs.
The Burleigh Pro, the first qualifying event on the WSL calendar, will be broadcast internationally to scores of dedicated surfing fans.
The free event will be held at Burleigh headland, directly opposite the town’s popular CBD dining district.

Maybe you’re keen to hit the surf yourself while you’re holidaying on the Gold Coast? If you’re comfortable on a board, you’ll be spoilt for choice.
Whether you’re tackling the sweeping swell at Kirra, the beach breakers at Duranbah or the barrels at Burleigh, there’s no shortage of impressive waves a hop, skip and a jump from The Grand Apartments.
If that’s not quite enough for the intrepid adventurer, the coast hosts a range of indoor and outdoor karting tracks, paintball, rock climbing, scuba diving, wakeboarding, jetskiing and other experiences. Combine pristine beaches, top-rated dining and leisure venues and a decidedly laid-back atmosphere, and you won’t find a more appealing holiday location, whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, family escape or stealthy sojourn.
